We’re searching for a seasoned expert with at least five years of experience as an editor or equivalent who has a vision for the future of independent media and a growing role for brandnewrock.com in it. Our next editor will be inspired by our founding mission statement, “we will take orders from none but our own conscience, and never will we overlook or misrepresent the truth to serve the interests of the powerful or cater to the ignoble in the human spirit,” as well as a passion for longform storytelling, investigative reporting, and incisive commentary.
The editor of brandnewrock.com will split his time between the office and the field. Outside of the office, you’ll be the face of brandnewrock.com, promoting its work and mission and bringing in new collaborations and cooperation opportunities. Inside the office, brandnewrock.com is looking for a proven manager who has led a team, crafted editorial assignments, and provided direction and mentorship to our team of seasoned and up-and-coming writers.
You should be a goal-oriented professional who can work independently and think on your feet.
You’ll help set an editorial direction for brandnewrock.com, ensuring that it remains a go-to source for major topics like criminal justice, civil rights, climate, public health, immigration, and politics, as well as develop methods to attract new audiences, especially online. You’ll also collaborate with our board of directors and chief revenue officer to figure out how our nimble outlet can adapt in the face of a rapidly shifting media landscape.
You’ll be in charge of guiding and implementing brandnewrock.com’s mission for bold, scathing reporting in the state.
